This work seeks to analyze how the architecture of school physical spaces contributes to the construction of a history of education. The research's locus of investigation is the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Minas Gerais (IFMG), based on the analysis and comparison between two of its campuses. The methodology used was based on a qualitative analysis, using architectural projects as resources, as well as historical documents and photographic archives. The study allowed us to conclude that the architecture of IFMG's physical spaces is made up of a variety of spaces built at different times, which interconnect as new buildings emerge, forming an architectural ensemble marked by very different aesthetic characteristics, which are grouped together in their final objective, which is to be an educational equipment. The convergence of these different historical and architectural contexts into new educational spaces not only reflects physical changes, but an evolution in educational policies and practices, seeking to meet the demands and challenges of the contemporary world.
